Finland is part of the European Union (EU). It is the 5th largest country in Europe. Finland’s landscape includes forest, lakes, rolling hills, and a few mountains. Winters are long and cold while summers are short and cool (average summer temperature is 63-68 degrees).


Helsinki is the capital of Finland.

  • - 83% of the population of Finland belong to the Evangelical Lutheran church.

    - The official languages of Finland are Finnish and Swedish.

    - Punctuality, loyalty, and reliability are important traits in Finland.

    - Finland has a very unique education system. Children don’t begin school until age seven and are not given any standardized testing until they are 16 years old.

    - Finnish students have 3 years of high school.

    - Students must pass a test to graduate from high school and may attempt the test 3 times. Competitive entrance exams are given to attend college.

    - They eat a hot lunch at school.

    - Both Finnish parents typically work outside the home.
